Ashland County Local Emergency Planning Committee

OUR MISSION
The Ashland County Local Emergency Planning Committee (ACLEPC), as established pursuant to the Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA) of 1986, and shall prepare hazardous materials emergency plans that indicate the facilities that use, produce, or store hazardous substances that are present in Ashland County. The ACLEPC shall serve as the repository for reports filed under Title III and shall direct Title III implementation activities and perform outreach programs to increase the awareness, understanding and compliance with the EPCRA.

OUR ORGANIZATION
The ACLEPC is made up of representatives from all aspects of the community. The ACLEPC is required to have representation from twelve (12) categories of the community, they are:

• Elected State or Local official(s)
• Law Enforcement Division(s)
• Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency
• City/County Fire Department(s)
• First Aid/Red Cross Official(s)
• Health Department(s)
• Local Environmental Official(s)
• Hospital Official(s)
• Transportation Official(s)
• Broadcast and Print media representative(s)
• Community Groups
• Owners and Operators of Facilities

Our committee is required to meet quarterly to discuss issues that concern Ashland County in regards to facilities that use, store or produce hazardous chemicals. We currently meet the second Tuesday of even months to better serve the community.

NOTICE OF AVAILABLE PUBLIC INFORMATION
The public is advised that information concerning chemical inventories of certain facilities within Ashland County as well as information concerning Ashland County’s chemical response planning efforts is available for review.

The Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986, known as SARA and/or the Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act or EPCRA provides a framework for chemical response planning in each local panning districts, which in this instance, is Ashland County. The Ashland County Local Emergency Planning Committee (ACLEPC), working with the Ohio Emergency Response Commission (OERC or Commission), the Ashland County Emergency Management Agency, and local fire departments, implement these requirements within Ashland County.
