Comprehensive Land Use Plan

Many of our zoning decisions are based on our County's Comprehensive Land Use Plan, which has been adopted by several of our Townships.

Emergency Food and Shelter Program

As part of the National Emergency Food and Shelter Program, Ashland County receives annual funding to provide private or non-profit, nondiscriminatory organizations for the purpose of delivering food and shelter assistance to residents within Ashland County.

Fair Housing

The Planning Department administers Ashland County's Fair Housing Program through the CDBG Grant and the CHIP Grant. Federal Law prohibits discrimination based on Race or Color, Religion, National Origin, Handicap (Disability), Familial Status, and Sex (Gender). If you feel you have been discriminated against or have some Tenant and Landlord Issues, please contact us.

Floodplain Management

If you are planning a project near a watercourse, you must check with the Planning Department before proceeding. Doing this is important, since it may affect your ability to get other permits, financing, insurance, etc... . Federal Law requires that Ashland County carefully monitor and control development in floodplains. We have local Floodplain maps available for these purposes.

Neighborhood Stabilization Program

As part of a collaborative effort between the Ohio Department of Development and the Ohio Housing Finance Agency, the Neighborhood Stabilization Program creates new rental housing opportunities for very low-income households in Ashland County.

New Addresses/House Numbers

The Ashland County EMA Office handles all new addresses. House numbers are based on a grid system and are assigned to specific driveway entrance locations. There is no fee for this service.
