NEWSPAPER
Stack newspaper and tie both ways with twine or stack them into a brown or
plastic grocery bag. Newspapers are made into more
newsprint, insulation, and cereal boxes.
CORRUGATED CARDBOARD
Corrugated cardboard has two layers of heavy cardboard with a ribbed
section between them. To recycle, remove staples, tapes, and all
foreign material. Wax-coated cardboard is not
recyclable, but box board (cereal boxes) are. Old corrugated is
used to make new corrugated and other paperboard.
MISCELLANEOUS PAPER
Types of recycled paper include: typing, notebook, ditto, mimeo, photocopy,
computer, writing paper & envelopes. Junk mail is also recyclable.
These types of paper are made into tissue products & other grade paper.
Glossy Paper and magazines must also be separated out.
MAGAZINES
Magazines and glossy paper can be recycled if they are kept separate
and dry. Bundle-up stacks of magazines and/or glossy paper with twine
or simply place in brown or plastic grocery bags. Magazines are recycled
into insulation.
STEEL CANS
Tin cans, empty aerosol cans, and dry empty paint cans
can all be recycled. Rinse food containers and place lid inside
clean can.
TONER
& INK CARTRIDGES
Toner and ink cartridges
are now acceptable for recycling.

PLASTIC
Plastic containers are marked
on the bottom with recycling symbol and a number inside. This
number will distinguish whether it is the type of plastic that can be
recycled in the local Ashland program. In general, number 1 and
2's can be recycled. Always rinse and remove lids (the lids
are not recyclable).
No.1 plastic is called (PETE) polyethylene terephthalate. A two-liter
pop bottle is a good example of this type of plastic. PETE is
recycled into fiberfill stuffing, scouring pads, rope and twine.
Plastic milk jugs, bottles, and liquid detergent bottles are all No.
2 plastic. They are made from (HDPE) High Density Polyethylene.
This plastic is used to make industrial floor coverings, drums and pails,
drain tile, and plastic lumber.
Plastic grocery bags
& film plastic is also now recyclable. Place grocery bags in a clear
recycling bag & put with your other recycling.
GLASS
All glass food and beverage
containers can be recycled. Rinse container and remove all caps/lids
( the metal lids are recyclable and can be put with the tin cans ).
It is not necessary to remove the label. Your recycled glass will
be made into new glass. (window glass, pyrex, and/or mirrors
can't be recycled.)
ALUMINUM
Aluminum beverage
cans should be drained and have no foreign material inside. Aluminum
foil, pie pans, lawn furniture, and pet food cans are also recyclable,
but must be kept separate from the cans. The cans are recycled
into new cans.
TIRE RECYCLING
Tires can now
be recycled at the Recycling Center for a small fee. All tires are to
be off the rims and free of water, mud & other debris. If
tires are brought in on a rim there will be a $5.00 surcharge per tire.

Tires may be brought in 10
at a time, limiting tractor tires to 2 per vehichle. NO
FLOATER TIRES OR LARGE EQUIPMENT TIRES.
ELECTRONICS
The Recycling
Center will accept electronics for recycling.
A small fee
may apply for some electronics.
All
TVs will be charged a flat fee of $5.00 each.
Computer monitors
will be free if recycled with a computer tower. If a monitor is
brought in by itself a fee of $5.00 each will be charged.
